Responsibilities

As a Graduate Equity Research Analyst, you will have the following initial responsibilities:

  • Industry Model Maintenance: Update and maintain industry models, analyze new data to support reports and generate new ideas.
  • Client Presentation Maintenance: Maintain and update client presentations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Sector News Monitoring: Stay informed about sector news flow, identifying relevant trends and developments.
  • Company Understanding: Build a working understanding of UK, European, and US companies, gaining insights into their operations and performance.
  • Earnings Results Comments: Draft key points and comments on earnings results, providing valuable insights.
  • News Comment Distribution: Distribute news comments via email and Bloomberg, keeping clients informed.
  • Client Support: Respond to client requests for data and information, delivering exceptional service.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attend client and company meetings, as well as industry conferences, expanding your network and knowledge.
  • Company Communication: Call companies for data and information, developing relationships with investor relations teams.
  • Important Dates Tracking: Keep track of the earnings calendar and other significant dates, ensuring timely updates.
  • Building Industry and Company-Specific Knowledge: Utilize the above responsibilities to build experience, industry understanding, and company-specific knowledge.

Requirements

The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Degree-Level Education: Hold a 2.1 or above degree in any subject, having graduated within the last year (required).
  • Coding Proficiency: Understand coding, particularly SQL and Python, to handle data analysis efficiently.
  • Valuation Metrics and Drivers: Grasp valuation metrics and value drivers of businesses, demonstrating analytical abilities.
  • Financial Modeling and Reporting: Show aptitude for financial modeling, including SOTP (Sum of the Parts) and DCF (Discounted Cash Flow), and understand financial reporting, including IFRS16.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent spoken and written communication skills, including experience in presentations, report writing, or essay writing.
  • Excel and Analytical Skills: Possess strong Excel skills and a high level of analytical proficiency.
  • Collaboration and Engagement: Display willingness to engage with the sales and sales-traders, including making ad hoc presentations.
